A brilliantly gifted geneticist, Ginerva made a name for herself in college by being expelled despite having a spotless academic record. Though the circumstances surrounding her expulsion (and the resulting trial) have been covered up, the rumor is that it involved unethical experimentations on her fellow students. Regardless, a large bioengineering company hired her for special remote work on an island. There are plenty of rumors about what might have happened, but again, everything was covered up. The only thing that's known for certain is that Ginerva came back from the island even more reclusive than she had been in the past.
Ginerva first met Lizbeth through Simon, whom she dated for a while. Things ended in a messy breakup, but (possibly to spite Simon) Ginerva maintained a friendship with Liz, one of the few people who could put up with Ginerva's narcissism and blatant arrogance. Through Liz, Ginerva met Miranda, and the two of them also dated, briefly. It was over quickly, but Ginerva still feels resentment towards Miranda, and takes it out on her viciously. Despite all that, Ginerva agreed to move into the house with Liz, who has provided her with enough space for a private laboratory in the basement. She keeps to herself when she's working, but her ego keeps her from staying alone too long. What she enjoys most is to illicit uncomfortable reactions from her housemates with tales of her disturbing exploits.
